Submission Guidelines
Between The Lines only considers previously unpublished original work. Simultaneous submissions are ok as long as you tell us immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere.
Submissions for Issue One are open until 17 August.
Respect is the theme for Issue One. We want you to creatively explore what respect means for you in a poem, a short story, a song, a cartoon or a photograph.
Categories
Poems
Up to 150 lines. All poetic forms and genres accepted. Double spaced in Times Roman 12 font. Send in a single file Microsoft Word doc attached to the Submission Form.
Short Story
Up to 1000 words. Can be pure fiction or a personal essay, a dispatch in story form, a reflection or meditation. Double spaced in Times Roman 12 font. Send in single file Microsoft Word doc attached to the Submission Form.
Photograph An image that promotes the idea respect between people. Photos can be black and white or colour. Send as a single 300dpi .jpeg file with your name and the title in the file as an attachment to the Submission Form.
Cartoon
Can be a single cartoons or multi-panel cartoons. Send as a single 300dpi .jpeg file with your name and the title in the file as an attachment to the Submission Form.
Songs
All genres from hip hop to pop to rock and country accepted. We’re not fussed about the production value but we are big on the words and melody and the performance level. Send as an Mp3 160kps with your name and song title in the file name as an attachment to the Submission Form. If you have co-written the song be sure to include the name/s of your co-writer. If you’re not the singer/s please tell us who is.
Paintings and Photographs
Send a single 300dpi .jpeg file of your painting or photograph with your name and the title in the file as an attachment to the Submission Form.
Multiple Submissions
You may make only one submission in each category. If you wish to submit in more than one category you must make an individual submission for that category.
