PEZ, MAYA JUPITER, 360 TRANSCRIPT
To coin a phrase from Pez’s song “Shine” how can we change it for the better?
MAYA:
I think we can change our attitudes, that’s the most important message to get across
here. That it is all about our attitudes, how we want to be treated and how we treat
other people and just to keep an idea that it is all about respect in our minds as we
enter in to relationships. I think we can change the fact of our how many women are
being abused each year and I think we can bring that number down and that will be
for the better.
What does this tour represent?
PEZ: Well I guess it’s a chance to do what we love to do anyway which is to try and
connect with people through music. So like for me you want to try and write about
things you care about and feel strongly about and hope you can reach people on that
level. To actually have support when you go out and do that though to get backing
and promotion and try and push it out there and try push an actual message, is just
really cool because you feel like you have even more power behind you than usual to
try and do something about it rather than just the solo grind that every musician has to
go through. It is really How about you 6?
360: Yeah just getting amongst like minded people I guess that all have positive
outlook and stuff.
MAYA: The tour for me is a chance to go out and see people face to face and interact
with them...yeah we are going to have fun play music and entertain, but at the end of
the day there is a deeper meaning behind it all and the reason why we are all together
and I think that’s important that people leave with a bit of the realisation that we are
here to spread a message of respect and that you know maybe that they just think
about what that means for them in their lives.
What can we expect from you on tour?
360: Pretty high performance I reckon but I’m not using a band I’m using a DJ so it
will just be me out there but my self with my DJ backing me up so I think it will be
pretty awesome, pretty epic.
Pez, will you showcase new material on the tour?
Pez: Some new songs and that
360: Will you do some new songs?
Pez: We’ll do some new songs...so I’m keen to do that. It’s been a long time
it’s been over 2 years
Maya, what can we expect from you on tour?
Maya: I will be performing with Pez’s band live which is going to the really cool. It
is always good to have live musicians behind you because it gives you a little bit more
energy. They are going to interpret the sounds from the record, and the main
influences from my record sonhorcho, dance hall, soul music and hip-hop of course
‘cos I am hip-hop.
You are going to hold song writing master classes for The Line in selected high
schools later this year. What does that mean for you?
Pez:
It’s exciting to get in amongst that to try and break down all those barriers break it
down and build it back up again and get people to try and express. That’s the thing
though I didn’t start rapping till I was 19 you know so I found it real late and you are
trying to teach your self with a lot of little defence mechanisms you have got to over
come so I feel like the more you can get to people at that age and push them to follow
their passion that’s everything, everything else in life comes easy once you find that.
The more you can steer kids to just find what they love is awesome so that’s just a
good chance to do that.
